Yes, they can. When you think of traditional stickers, you might not immediately associate them with compost.
But we are so thrilled to be able to offer you environmentally friendly stickers. You can check out our biodegradable paper stickers, eco-friendly stickers or eco-friendly clear stickers to learn more or simply stick around and find out what you need to know:
Is vinyl biodegradable?
No, a vinyl sticker is not biodegradable. Traditional stickers are made from PVC, which is why we usually think of plastic stickers when we hear the term. PCV is widely used, but not easily recyclable.
Our vinyl stickers are not made from PVC. Instead, we use material based on polypropylene (PP) which is much easier to recycle and allows us to create recyclable stickers. This makes most of our stickers recyclable.
Is all paper biodegradable?
No, not all paper is automatically biodegradable. Many paper stickers are an eco-friendly sticker option as they are generally plastic-free.
However, to classify as compostable stickers, paper stickers have to be made entirely from natural ingredients as only natural ingredients can compost.
Our biodegradable paper stickers are made from bagasse - a by-product of sugarcane - linen and hemp, making these completely compostable. The same applies to our eco-friendly sticker range. These beauties are made from wood pulp and can be decomposed just as easily.
How long do biodegradable stickers last?
They can be used for up to two years indoors. We recommend avoiding contact with oil and water as they can interfere with the material.
Once you put your biodegradable stickers in the food waste bin, they will decompose within 12 weeks. You do not have to do anything after recycling your stickers. The decomposition process will simply start as soon as the sticker is exposed to a moist environment with the right bacteria and other living organisms.
Can I get compostable labels?
Absolutely. Each of our environmentally friendly sticker options is also available on custom sticker sheets.
Stickers are individually cut, whereas labels are printed on sheets. You can see an example in the image below. Sheets make your labels much easier to peel, which can save you lots of time when you are branding your own products.
With compostable labels and biodegradable labels you can brand anything from cardboard packaging, candle jars, honey jars, beverage bottles and much more.
