The term die-cut originated when stickers were cut using thin strips of sharp metal formed into shapes, known as dies.
Die-cutting is still used today in many industries. But for stickers and labels, we now use advanced tools such as high-speed lasers or digitally controlled knives for all shapes, ensuring minimal setup costs and fast delivery times.
However, we still call custom-shaped stickers die-cut, because people are used to it.
