What is holographic vinyl?

Holographic vinyl is the film we print onto to create your stickers. This is also often referred to as media.

When you order your custom stickers, you can choose between different premium quality material options, including holographic. Our holographic material comes with a stunning rainbow-like effect that can best be seen when it reflects the light. This is why holographic materials are often referred to as iridescent vinyl.

You can use this effect to create stunning designs. When colors are printed on top of the material, it creates holographic colors that appear metallic and make your artwork stand out even more.

How holographic vinyl is made

Holographic vinyl starts out as a metallized polyester film. That is a very thin layer of metal applied to a thin polyester film. This metallic film is then passed through rollers with a textured surface, which is known as embossing.

The embossing is so fine that it cannot be felt. It is only about 10 microns thin. That is 1/5 of a human hair. The light diffracts on the metallized vinyl's surface, creating an iridescent effect as a result of the modification.

Is holographic vinyl waterproof?

It is. Our holographic material has a vinyl base, which makes it tear-proof and water resistant. We also laminate your holographic vinyl stickers to protect your design from the elements and scratches.

The added laminate is what gives your stickers a glossy or matte finish. Our standard laminate is glossy as it highlights the shiny effects of our holographic range. If you are after a matte finish, please feel free to contact us.

Is holographic vinyl permanent?

Yes. Our holographic vinyl not only has a solid base, but it also comes with a permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive.

This means that you can apply your holographic stickers and labels to almost any surface without any trouble. For the perfect application, be sure to clean your surface with rubbing alcohol and remove dust particles.
