If you are looking for a sticker to apply to a glass surface, we recommend using a clear sticker. Their see-through base allows customers or consumers to spot your shop or product through your sticker.
There are several different options when it comes to clear stickers that can be applied to glass, from an eco-friendly option to clear labels and front adhesive stickers. Read on to find out more.
Do stickers adhere to glass?
Yes, stickers and labels adhere to any smooth surface, including glass.
For the best possible outcome, clean your glass surface with rubbing alcohol before applying your stickers. This removes potential dirt and dust that would otherwise get stuck underneath the material and create air bubbles.
Do not skip this step when applying your clear stickers to curved surfaces, as these can be a little more difficult to handle.
What are window stickers?
When you are looking for clear stickers, you are likely to come across terms like window stickers or window decals.
First of all, there is no inherent difference between stickers and decals. The term decal is usually used to refer to larger stickers. Hence, you will often find them used to refer to wall or window stickers.
A window decal or sticker is usually a clear sticker. If you want to apply your sticker to the outside of your window, a standard sticker with the adhesive on the back will be fine.
However, if you want to apply your stickers to the inside of your window to be seen from the outside, look for front adhesive stickers. These are perfect for branding businesses, shops and car windows.
Custom labels to brand your glass bottles
When it comes to product labels, be sure to choose sticker sheets instead of individually cut stickers. This will make the application process much easier and quicker.
A clear label material is perfect for labelling beverage bottles like wines, candle jars, cosmetics, etc.
Clear materials create a stunning effect, not only allowing customers to see the product through the sticker, but also a beautiful stained-glass effect when colour is printed onto the material.
If you are looking for an opaque finish instead, we can simply print white ink between the clear material and your colours of choice. However, we do recommend opting for a glossy over a matte finish for ultimate transparency.
We offer two different clear label materials to allow for versatile packaging: clear vinyl labels and eco-friendly clear labels.
When to use clear vinyl labels
Use clear vinyl labels for any product that will be exposed to water, oil or needs to be fit for withstanding temperatures and dishwasher safe.
Prolonged exposure to the elements can interfere with your stickers. But with clear vinyl labels, your stickers can be used outdoors as well as indoors for years.
When to use eco-friendly clear stickers
Eco-friendly clear stickers are an excellent choice for sustainable and eco-conscious brands. Use them to brand wine bottles and glass jars that will mostly be used indoors.
The best thing about these stickers and labels is that they will full compost within 12 weeks of being put in the food waste bin.
And what about transfer stickers?
When you look for luxurious and minimalist branding, you will often come across transfer stickers.
There are stickers that are cut from one single piece of vinyl so that every element of your design will be peelable. The individual parts are held together by a transfer tape that is applied on top of your design. You then simply have to peel the transfer paper off the backing to apply them. The video below shows that.
Transfer stickers are a great option for any brand that wants to create a sleek look with a bold design. However, if you want to create an intricate, detailed design, clear stickers and labels are a much better option as transfer stickers have unique limitations. Read more about these here.
